In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!
Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!
We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.
After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!
Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)
After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!
Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!
Finish the day back in Porto.

Tour Reviews
A unique way of walking through very beautiful scenery!
I loved the footbridge, and the walkways. Scenery was amazing. The guide was great, everything was timely, professional. I rated 4 out of 5, because I found the Aveiro and the Costa Nova part of the tour not interesting, at all..
I’m glad we chose this adventure. Norberto was so kind, freindly and helpful. He showed so many special place, the beautiful Paiva walkway, the calm Arouca with a very delicious lunch, Aveiro and the colorful village Costa Nova. He answered all the team’s questions and told interesting stories about Portugal. It was a perfect day! I can only recommend! <3
Amazing view and exciting to walk across the bridge. Able to stop and take pictures because it’s not overcrowded with the way they control the numbers of people. Walkways were a nice way to walk along the river without having issues with footing.
Doing it all at our own pace and being able to stop and enjoy the scenery without being rushed along. Top!
The tour was great, beautiful scenery and Aveiro was a cute town to visit. the lunch was also the best fish we had our whole trip! and Norberto was an amazing guide for our tour, very friendly and informative!
Thank you so much Norberto, we had an amazing day!
It was excellent.. and Norberto was super helpful and pleasant. It didn’t feel like a typical tour, but rather an adventure with a group of friends.
A really great day out and not a physical as you may think!
We were picked up promptly from our hotel in Porto and travelled for an hour or so before a convenience stop in Arouca where you can also buy refreshments/snacks. Then onward to the suspension bridge. Ricardo was our brilliant, really professional, attentive and very friendly guide. To save our pain, he took us straight to the top of the hill by car so all we had to do was to walk across the bridge and it was pretty much downhill all the way for the entire Paiva walkway including the steps. The 2 hour walk follows the river downstream with a convenience stop after 1 hour where Ricardo was waiting and where you can stop if you have had enough. Otherwise you can continue for another hour to the end where there is a cafe. The longest boardwalk ever! We were then taken to a fantastic traditional lunch at a restaurant in Arouce (half the town folk were so must always be good). It was good too; the plat-du-jour that day was marinated, slow cooked rib beef with fabulous potatoes, spinach and vino verde (not a small meal!). Onward to Aveiro, the little portuguese Venice for a boat trip which was also very nice. It’s a long day starting at 8am and back home at 6.30pm but was brilliant and well worth it. Couldn’t fault it, a highly recommended day trip with a highly professional company.
Ricardo was an excellent guide! Great local knowledge, engaging and attentive! Great way to spend a day in the area!
Thanks for everything,,, great day!👍
Ricardo was an amazing host and guide. He was very thoughtful and considerate of his guests, very knowledgeable about the area and experience, and did an excellent job of providing the experience in three languages.
Thank you Ricardo for an amazing day. It was the best guided experience we’ve had anywhere!
Absolutely wonderful experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better, more knowledgeable guide. This is a must see activity!!!
