In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!
Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!
We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.
After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!
Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)
After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!
Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!
Finish the day back in Porto.

- Drive to Aveiro;
- City center and fish market;
- Boat ride at the Aveiro canals.

Highlight of my trip!!
I had the BEST time on this trip!! Everything about the day was amazing. Ricardo was the best! He smiled the whole day. The hike was beautiful, the bridge was scary but manageable (opinion, not fact!!), the food was delicious, the boat ride was gorgeous….I could go on and on and on!! I literally had the best day and would do this again and again and again!

I really enjoyed the whole excursion! The hike and views were spectacular! It was a day well spent with our guide Joao giving us a lively commentary throughout. Our veal lunch was delicious and the local vinho was a great pairing.

Une superbe excursion à ne pas rater!
Une excursion incroyable du début à la fin. Un guide vraiment gentil et disponible. Un petit groupe de 8 personnes avec qui le contact a été très facile. Des paysages magnifiques, un repas traditionnel très bon, une parfaite organisation. Je vous recommande vraiment cette sortie. Prévoir de bonnes chaussures.

Smuk og interessant dag. Den 7 kilometer lange vandretur langs Paiva floden er absolut højdepunktet. Meget omsorgsfuld og behagelig guide!

Hemos pasado un día increíble. Hemos conocido gente de muchos lugares y lo hemos pasado genial. Las pasarelas del Paiva y los puentes son un sitio precioso en la naturaleza, con mucha vegetación y flora, al lado del río. No hace falta estar entrenado para hacer este recorrido y puedes escoger o no si cruzar los puentes aunque yo lo recomiendo. Fuimos a comer una comida tradicional de ternera asada y estaba increíble, super rica. Luego fuimos a la costa y vimos Aveiro y Costa Nova. En un día pasas de ver el Portugal más urbanita al más rural y la costa, es una excursión muy bien planeada. Nuestro guía João nos acompañó todo el día y nos cuidó mucho e hizo que todo fuera perfecto, además nos aclaró un montón de dudas que teníamos sobre historia y economía de Porto y es una persona muy agradable. Volvería a repetir y lo recomiendo sin dudar! Si váis en verano llevad ropa ligera, calzado cómodo y protección solar
