In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!

Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!

We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.

After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!

Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)

After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!

Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!

Finish the day back in Porto.

Spannend begin van de dag met de aurora 516 als start. Maar wat hebben we genoten van deze dag. Super leuke dag gehad. Heel aangename gids, vertelt veel en bracht ons probleemloos naar onze bestemming. Alle was echt af! Een aanrader!!

Paiva Walkways and 516 Arouca Bridge, a great daytrip from Porto. The experience, and Ricardo in particular exceeded our expectations. Thanks Ricardo for being such a good host, for the terrific lunch spot, and for making sure everyone was having a good time.

We felt that the amount of time in the car is just too much, that the stops are greatly embellished in the ad, and that the multilingual aspect of the tour greatly hurt the experience. We booked this tour in English, but half of the group consisted of French tourists who did not speak any English. For the full 10 hours half of the group was always alienated by the tour guide. Also there was no interaction between us, leading to long dead silent car rides. This would’ve been a good opportunity for the guide to share personal experiences and knowledge but no such effort was made. The marketing saying “Aveiro is the Venice of Portugal” is an absolute lie. The canal looks like any other city canal, and we mostly went by various construction sites and modern buildings. Not worth it. The nature aspect of it was fine. Overall we paid less for other tours with similar length and much better experiences. We feel like we wasted a day on this tour.

Norberto is a great host, very attentive and accommodating from start to finish. I had an adventurous day for the senses, good eating, nature and excitement. Will love to do another adventure with Norberto in the future.

What a wonderful day! Ricardo was an amazing guide. He was so thoughtful, kind and was really knowledgeable about all the places we went. The suspension bridge was high (smile), the views from the walkways were beautiful, the lunch delicious and the afternoon stops did not disappoint. You should definitely book the day long tour!

Encore Merci.

Amazing day. Our guide Joao was very informative, friendly and humorous too. The walkways are worth a visit in themselves and the lunchtime meal at the restaurant in Arouca was delicious and filling. I can recommend this day trip.

Need to Go – This trip is a must do! We were picked up at 7:55 by Joao and then we went to get the other 6 people and headed to Arouca for a quick stop to use the bathroom and get a snack. We then headed to the expansion bridge -I believe the largest in the world. Boy that was scary and exciting all at the same time! We then walked the Paiva Walkways which I did half because I hurt my foot the day before. Joao met us at the halfway point and I went in the car to meet My husband and the rest of our group who finished. The first half was beautiful and my husband said it even got prettier if that was possible! We then headed back to Arouca for a lunch they had for us-cute and quaint! We went to another little pit stop at Costa Nova-cute beach town. We then went on to Aveiro and rode the gondola theough the channels. It was a long day but so worth it. Joao was fantastic-we couldn’t ask for a better guide. It was neat to get out of the city for the day and be amongst the beautiful scenery!

Amazing experience!
So glad we booked this activity. What an experience! The guide Juan, was very friendly, gave us the necessary explanations about the activities as about the history of the city. The walkways were fqntastic and Aveiro, totally different than Porto but a lovely city.Everything went as planned. Very nice experience, for which our sincere thanks to Juan.
