We leave from Porto at 8AM towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and for coffee.
Get ready for adventure! After a short drive, we will arrive at the Walkways and go across one of the Longest Suspension Bridges of the World – The 516 Arouca! It spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva river!
Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you will walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 7km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of the river. (you also have the option to walk only 3,5Km and be picked up half-way). You can decide that on the day of the tour.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! A delicious meal is deserved and it will take place at a beautiful typical restaurant! Roasted veal is the meat option offered, but fish or vegetarian options are available.
After a power nap in the van, it’s time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice ”!
Discover the city center with us on a short walk and enjoy free time to spoil yourself with “ovos-moles” – sweet eggs, a local delicacy, or a ice cream, or a beer, a souvenir or all of it!
And once in Aveiro, a boat trip over the canals is a must do! You`ll board on a “moliceiro” – the traditional river boats – and discover the charming city through the canals!
Finish the day back in Porto.

Luis was amazing full of history and information. It was a full day and everything went smooth. the bridge and walkways were awesome. The food was delicious and the boat ride was fun. Perfect day!
A great excursion that I can only recommend. The suspension bridge and the hiking trails are incredible. The boat trip in Aveiro was a nice way to round off the day.
Luis was an excellent guide. We had a wonderful day on the suspension bridge with spectacular views. The hike along the river was very peaceful. The lunch was very tasty and we all enjoyed the green table wine. The Aveiro boat ride was disappointing.
Our guide, João, was truly amazing! He taught us about the history and culture of Portugal, as well as Oporto, Aveiro and Arouca during the trip. We had a great time overall, the activities were awesome and absolutely beautiful. After walking 8.7 km in Passadiços do Paiva, João drove us to a restaurant were we had the most glorious lunch ever. Afterwards, we headed to Aveiro and we had extra time to explore the city by ourselves and then enjoy the boat trip which was very nice too. I can honestly say we had a blast, a 10/10 experience!

Nice day seeing parts of Portugal you would not otherwise get to experience
This was a very busy and full day and we enjoyed it very much. You get to see areas of Portugal that you would not otherwise be able to see. The suspension bridge and walkways were beautiful. The visit to Aveiro as well as the other stops were really nice and worth the time spent. We would recommend this trip to anyone who is able to do the 8 meter walk….

Diese Tour ist eine ganz klare Empfehlung – die Hängebrücke und der Paiva-Wanderweg befinden sich in einer der landschaftlich schönsten Region Nordportugals. Die Wanderung entlang des Flusses erinnert an das Wandern in einer Klamm. Sehr gut ausgebauter Weg, für den festes Schuhwerk getragen werden sollte. Das traditionelle Mittagessen war hervorragend. Großes Lob auch an unseren Guide Luis der uns sehr unterhaltsam bei der Tour begleitet hat.
I did a trip to Paiva walkways and Aveiro in October 2023 and I loved it! The guide Luis was perfect, spoke in English and Spanish (what I appreciated a lot). It was the best day and best trip of my visit in northern Portugal. I really recommend it!

Joao un 10 como persona y trabajador. Me ha encantado la excursión. Uno de los mejores tours que he hecho, a pesar de la tremenda lluvia. La comida estaba buenísima, sin duda volvería a comer ahí de nuevo. Y qué decir de las vistas son estupendas. El tiempo dedicado a cada sitio es el perfecto. Lo recomiendo sin dudarlo!!
