Let`s explore Guimarães, known as the cradle of the nation! And Braga, an ancient Roman city!
We start by visiting the Guimarães Castle, symbol of the beginning of the Portuguese nation, followed by a visit to the Chapel of S. Miguel and Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, where you`ll get to know the detailed historical background.
A selfie next to the statue of our first King will be followed by a walk through the oldest street in the city that leads to the Unesco medielval city center. Another landmark is the mythical inscription on the city wall saying “Here was born Portugal”.
After a delicious lunch, it is time to discover Braga. Braga has about 105 churches! It is the capital of the Baroque style and the oldest city in the country with more than 2000 years! We’ll visit the Old Town, the Roman ruins, the Santa Bárbara gardens, the baroque fountains and the amazing Cathedral de Braga – oldest in the country!
Finally, we’ll visit one of the most beautiful sanctuaries of the country: The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Braga and the impressive stairway.

Tour Reviews
Norberto was pleasant, informative, flexible and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our two days exploring Douro Valley and Braga and Guimaraes area with him!!
Norberto provided not only an informative tour but an entertaining one. He has an enormous volume of knowledge about the area and delivers it in a fun way. He was kind and with a good sense of humor. I highly recommend him and will definitely use his guidance again when we return to Portugal.
