Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!
We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.
After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!
Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)
After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!
Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!
Finish the day back in Porto.

Incredible time, must do!
Ricardo, our guide was the absolute nicest, informative, most kind and knowledgeable guide I have ever had. This all day trip started and ended a few minutes from my hotel in Porto, but the drive through the countryside, into the mountains and out to the coast was awesome. Ricardo arranged a traditional lunch for us and made sure there was a vegetarian option which is not very common and then he sat and ate with us which was so cool and we got to ask lots more questions. The suspension bridge then walk down all these walkways along a river with rolling rapids (about 2 hour walk) was great and there was hardly another person there so it was very peaceful. The ride out to the coast may be a bit long for some, but I love a good road trip and it was so interesting to see how people lived in different areas. The beach was gorgeous and the “Venice of Portugal” college town was really cool. Ricardo had arranged a very informative boat ride for us through the canals. (And we saw flamingos along the way!) The trip started and ended on time and I think the van held 9 people plus the driver so a small group. I’m really glad Ricardo decided to give the tour guide role a try as he is perfect for it!
Wonderful 3-in-1 day trip!
A definite highlight of our trip, every aspect of this full day experience was amazing. Our
guide, Norberto, was kind and very knowledgable. The suspension bridge was breathtaking
and it was wonderful to be in such beautiful surroundings all day.
The excellent experience and great guide João! All 5 stars for interesting information, point of view for Portuguese history, advices according other sightseeing and of course local cafes. Lunch is amazing and wine tasting is great! Thank you for such wonderful day!
