In this tour, the walk difficulty level is Medium/Difficult! You`ll walk 7km, but downstream!
We leave from Porto at 8AM towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and for coffee.
Get ready for adventure! After a short drive, we will arrive at the Walkways and go across one of the Longest Suspension Bridges of the World – The 516 Arouca! It spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva river!
NOTICE: crossing the bridge is NOT mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you will walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 7km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of the river.
Bring a swimsuit! At the halfway point of the trail, you find the Vau beach! You will have some free time to dive and swim or just put your feet on the clean waters of the Paiva river.
Please notice: make sure you bring a second set of clothes as you cannot get in the van with wet clothes!
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! A delicious meal is deserved and it will take place at a beautiful typical restaurant! Meat, fish or vegetarian options available.
After lunch we’ll discover Arouca for a glance about local culture and history including convent sweets tasting related to Arouca Monastery.
Return to Porto.

I really had no idea what to expect from the bridge or the walk, but it was an amazing experience and Norberto was a fantastic host. I wish there were more tours like this one.

Excellent tour, very friendly and helpful/knowledgeable guide. On-time pickup. Walked the 516 Arouca and the Paiva Walkways. Had a local but very tasty late lunch in a restaurant nearby.

For an experience of a lifetime – join Norberto’s ennetours’ Arouca516 & Walkway! This full day event is the highlight of my Porto visit! I will remember forever completing the magnificent span (twice!), enjoying the walkway trek (make certain to hydrate), savoring lunch (super generous grandma-style veal lunch) and even a quick visit to a chapel (what a surprise)! Norberto is an organized and enthusiastic guide. He cares that every person is comfortable and having a great time! It was an outstanding day and I highly recommend you add this to your Porto itinerary!
Our group of 6 had a wonderful tour accompanied by Norberto. He was a great and fun guide. This tour is highly recommended. Please note that the walkways can be a bit of strenuous exercise for some people.

The views from the suspension bridge and hike were breath taking. Lunch was amazing as we got to experience Arouca and it’s locally crafted cuisine. Norberto was very knowledgeable and friendly which made the trip even better.
