In this tour, the walk difficulty level is Medium/Difficult! You`ll walk 7km, but downstream!

We leave from Porto at 8AM towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and for coffee.

Get ready for adventure! After a short drive, we will arrive at the Walkways and go across one of the Longest Suspension Bridges of the World – The 516 Arouca! It spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva river!

NOTICE: crossing the bridge is NOT mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you will walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 7km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of the river.

Bring a swimsuit! At the halfway point of the trail, you find the Vau beach! You will have some free time to dive and swim or just put your feet on the clean waters of the Paiva river.

Please notice: make sure you bring a second set of clothes as you cannot get in the van with wet clothes!

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! A delicious meal is deserved and it will take place at a beautiful typical restaurant! Meat, fish or vegetarian options available.

After lunch we’ll discover Arouca for a glance about local culture and history including convent sweets tasting related to Arouca Monastery.

Return to Porto.

Pranzo ottimo. Percorso impegnativo nelle giornate molto soleggiate.

Just a fantastic day!
Ricardo did a fantastic job. We had a great time. Lunch was really good and we would definitely do this trip again. Ricardo was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had!!

This was a nice day outside. The bridge was really cool to see (my boyfriend is an engineer, so to him, this was a must see!). The scenery was beautiful. However, we came to find that the bridge and walkways were constructed just for tourists, and many locals didn’t even know they existed. It was also a significantly longer path than we expected based on the description. If you are looking for a way to see some nature or an engineering feat during your trip, this is worth checking out. But not really a good fit for someone looking to be immersed in local culture. However, the hosts were super friendly and responsive, and lunch in the village was delicious!

The tour was fine if you want to see the Paiva Pathways. These pathways are great for older individuals who want to see more of the outdoors as most of the pathways are wooden and easy to walk along. The tour itself was average. We were a bit delayed to be picked up and the tour guide did not realize we were bringing our luggage with us even though I had confirmed this over email communications so I’m not sure where the message did not go through. Lunch was also just okay, at least for a vegetarian. I was told I was going to get an omelet and ended up with pasta with egg mixed in. The ride was quite bad in a van as there are a lot of winding roads. Even my dad who never feels car sick seemed to not be feeling well. Overall a fine tour, but I’m not sure you need to go out of your way to see the Paiva Pathways if you have limited time in Porto.

¡Norberto, eres magia!
