In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!
Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!
We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.
After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!
Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)
After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!
Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!
Finish the day back in Porto.

This has been our absolute BEST day in Portugal, and we have been here 3 weeks doing many things. The locations of the trip brought us into the amazing beauty of northern Portugal. I LOVE cities, but getting into nature was a wonderful break. I hesitated on this trip because of the cost, but it was 120% worth it. No regrets. Well organised day tour from Porto covering Arouca suspension bridge, Paiva walkways, local lunch, Aveiro and Costa Nova with Norberto. Norberto has fantastic English and an interesting background in history and international relations. He kept us thoroughly entertained all day. Would highly recommend any of his tours from Porto area. Comfortable van with air conditioning.

This is a wonderful experience! If you get car sick, be warned the roads are windy/winding, but definitely worth it in the end. It’s a very long day, but very enjoyable. Our host was extra thoughtful and kind, I really appreciated that! Highly recommend for the views from the suspension bridge and hike!

Superbe journée très bien organisée. Tout était très bien, la passerelle est vraiment impressionnante, la balade agréable, le repas très bon, la balade en bateau originale et le petit tour à la plage pour finir. Nous étions avec des personnes anglophones et Sara, notre guide, parlait parfaitement français et anglais. Elle a pris le temps de parler dans les deux langues et a répondu à toutes nos questions tout au long de la journée. Je conseille la sortie.

My cousin and I had the best time with Felipe. Everything went smoothly. The bridge and hiking and pathways were amazing. Lunch was outstanding – you will get plenty to eat and you’ll work up an appetite. The little tour and boat ride around Aveiro was great. And we had time to look at the little fishing village, too. Communication was outstanding. Pick up instructions were clear. Norberto also confirmed there is something wrong with my GPS and clarified to make sure we were in the right spot. This was a great tour and these two middle age women highly recommend it
