In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!
Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!
We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.
After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!
Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.
Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.
The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)
After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!
Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!
Finish the day back in Porto.

- Traditional lunch at Arouca;

- Drive to Aveiro;
- City center and fish market;
- Boat ride at the Aveiro canals.

This was such a unique experience! Luis was a great guide with extensive knowledge of the history and area. I can now say I’ve walked over the highest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world! I highly recommend booking this experience.
Great way to have a beautiful day out in nature, get some walking in and see a really cool site. It rained towards the end of the trip and the 2 towns we visited weren’t worth it. I’d say just the hike would have been enough but this trip isn’t worth it if there’s rain planned. So check the weather. Other than that, great experience, wonderful meal and friendly guide.
This tour was awesome and we’d highly recommend it to anyone interested. Our guide was Joao and he was SO KIND! He was well informed, incredibly friendly, and explained each part of the day thoroughly. The bridge and walkways were spectacular, but I have to say the lunch was the best food my husband and I have ever had on a tour (both veggie & non veggie). Note to future bookers: please do not ignore the warning that is sent beforehand about motion sickness/ to take medicine if you are sensitive to windy roads.

Absolutely lovely trip, I loved the itinerary and the guide. Our tour group was a mix of ages and nationalities that meshed together very well.
João was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information on the trip to the bridge and walkway. The bridge is incredible and the walkway beautiful (but long). The water was so clear and beautiful. Lunch was amazing.

Joao was a great tour guide, sharing a beautiful part of Portugal with us, history, and his personal stories. It was a fun mix of a thrilling hike, and 2 small towns with sites worth seeing. Highly recommend.
