In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!

Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!

We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.

After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!

Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)

After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!

Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!

Finish the day back in Porto.

Definitely worth doing. The walk is long but not difficult and has places to pause.

First class life time experience – something different & new!
From start to finish this tour was first class.
Norberto is well organised, has a vast knowledge of Portugal and indeed the world, which makes for a very interesting day in itself. Also we had a mixture of nationalities for conversation – USA, UK, Israel & Portugal which highlights everything i have missed re travel, sharing views and experiences. The content of the tour its self is also first class, we love hiking and this is as good as it gets. The staff on the Bridge were extremely helpful as i am not keen on heights but they made every effort to enable me to enjoy the experience. The lunch in the mountain village was the best food from our whole 5 day break & the boat ride/ fishing village are nice add ons. All in all a great day – loved it. Tim (& Jenny)

I had a blast on this tour!!!
Crossing the bridge was one thing and hiking the walkway was another but the lunch… The lunch was the best for me. I love the traditional cooking and way of eating!! It felt like home for me and it was extremely delicious. Started to rain but the gondola ride wasn’t too bad since the ride had clay umbrellas which made the viewing nice and it was a nice history of the little town. Got to try a past time sweet there and overall had a blast!!!!

Journée exceptionnelle!

Norberto gave us a great day out. He collected us from our hotel and took us in to the mountains to the Arouca bridge and Pavia walkways. We stopped off in a small town before reaching the bridge to use the loo and get supplies if required. Getting on our way We parked a short walk from the bridge and used a short cut for easy access. Plenty of time for photos and views crossing the bridge and back again for the full experience. Norberto kindly provide umbrellas and ponchos in case it rained. After the bridge we heady down the walkways and into the valley for an easy 7-8 k route along the walkways. Lots of great views and stunning scenery, loo half way if you needed it. Meeting up at the end again for a short ride into the local village for a great local lunch of roast potatoes and beef, vegetables and rice. Good wine and water if required, vegetarian option if that’s your need. After lunch we headed through the mountains and down to the coast for a short walk through Aveiro with a little free time to buy souvenirs and get a coffee. We tried the local sweet pastries before heading for a wonderful boat ride throughout the city. A final trip to the coast and then back to our hotel in Porto. Norberto was a great host, knowledgeable, informative, polite and helpful throughout. We both had a fantastic day and would thoroughly recommend the trip.
