In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!

Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!

We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.

After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!

Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)

After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!

Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!

Finish the day back in Porto.

Paiva Walkways: not to be missed
A very nice day. Good weather. A nice group of 8 people. The walkways were spectecular. 5 kilometers in total. And then a nice portugese meal with drinks. On to Costa Nova. Beautiful. And on to Aveiro. Oud guide Mauro was taking good care of us. A boat-ride was special. A lot of explanation. In a city with all good stores, like Guess, Springfield etc

A must do day trip
This was a great trip away from Porto. Getting out into the country to see the beautiful villages and landscape of northern Portugal. The suspension bridge and walkway was an exciting experience. Not too strenuous, but still a good bit of walking. Our lunch stop in the town of Arouca was amazing. One of my favorite meals I had during my entire Portugal trip!

The afternoon stops in Costa Nova and Aveiro were great additions to see different parts of Portugal. Including them for the afternoon on this trip felt like the perfect amount of time to see everything without feeling rushed or starved for things to do.

Our guide, Norberto was really what made this trip spectacular. He was extremely knowledgeable, giving great insight into everything we saw and made sure we all were having a good time. A nice addition for the van rides was his use of a headset connected to the van speakers. It helped ensure everyone could hear all his great information.

The day was amazing! We also had a great guide: Luis! He is so friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. He explained to us so many things about Portugal and the areas we visited. We asked him lot of questions and he was happy to answer and guide us properly. He advised us on best places to visit and to make our experience the best in Portugal. I highly recommend Luis. Paiva walkways are a must do! Views are amazing and the weather was perfect for the walk in the nature, by the river and with the high amazing views from the bridge. Aveiro was an enjoyable experience as well including the river cruise. Lunch was delicious alongside the green wine. We also visited Costa Nova and saw the lagoon and ocean. It was a great day indeed!

Hidden Treasures of Portugal
Norberto was an excellent guide and provided us with so many interesting facts and so much history. Had it not been raining when we crossed the swing bridge; the experience would have been a perfect day. We saw a hidden side of Portugal that included crossing the swing bridge, a beautiful 3 mile hike with waterfalls, a delicious Portugal meal in a typical local restaurant, a trip to Costa Nova and a boat ride through the little canals of the quaint town of Aveiro which is like a little Venice. All in all, Norberto made this day very fun and memorable! We also enjoyed getting away from the busyness of the city of Porto!

What a great experience! Norberto is a super knowledgeable guide with obvious love for Portugal. He explains all expectations and understands when comfort breaks are needed. Norberto will take you from the mountains to the sea in just one experience. I recommend this experience with all my heart and soul. I promise you will not be disappointed. Just remember Portugal is a very hilly. You will be walking up a couple of pretty steep hills. Wear good shoes and if you aren’t in the best of shape or aren’t use to climbing steep inclines your thighs will be angry with you the next day.
