In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!

Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!

We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.

After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!

Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)

After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!

Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!

Finish the day back in Porto.

Absolutely lovey day trip from Porto! We absolutely lucked out with the weather with it being sunny but not too hot. The bridge was an amazing experience and the walkway was a very manageable walk. The boat tour and visiting the seaside towns was a nice chance to get to see more of Portugal. Joao was a lovely tour guide – friendly, knowledgeable and very approachable with any questions people had. A lovely experience and would definitely recommend!

Exciting day out from Porto for lovers of nature and good food. The Arouca bridge was better than expected with the walk following the river afterwards an enjoyable experience, spotting many cork trees, little native flowers, wild goats, and all with the river and rapids by our side. Lunch at a local restaurant was hearty and really delicious too. Ricardo and Miguel made the day out really memorable and very comfortable in their mini van.

Must book tour when in Porto!
I must say, this is a must do tour when in Porto! Our tour guide Ricardo was amazing! He was very helpful, attentive, and pleasant. We had hotel pick up, which was very convenient. I will say this tour is not for those faint of heart! We only made it halfway down the bridge and decided to walk back, lol. We did do the complete hike, which took about two hours on the paiva walkways. You can decide to return to the bus halfway through, but the views were amazing and worth the complete trek. It’s not too bad being that it’s mostly downhill. Oh, and let’s not forget the lunch included! It was served family style, and it was amazing! you can tell this is where the locals go to have a nice lunch or dinner. Service was great.

We had a great day with Norberto! We lucked out, as (probably due to the bad weather predictions) we had all sites pretty much to ourselves, but even with larger crowds it would have been a perfect day. Norberto’s communication before the trip was perfect, he told great stories and was a solid driver – douze points! Would definitely recommend.
