From Porto: Paiva Walkways & Arouca516 Suspension Bridge!

One fo the best, if not the BEST, Viator tour I’ve ever done!
This was such an amazing day! One of my most favorite Viator tours. Our guide, Joao, was awesome! He was knowledgeable, kind, polite, and professional. He was at every checkpoint on time and always ready to help. The bridge was spectacular! Even 2 in our group afraid of heights did it. The 2hr river walk on the Paiva Walkways was beautiful and included watching 2 dogs shepherd a herd of goats without a shepherd. Wow! Lunch was mouth-watering. Roasted veal, perfect potatoes, fresh spinach and local wine was divine. Mostly, we loved being in a local, village restaurant – not touristy at all. Dessert at the dessert cafe was wonderful! Still dreaming about some of the desserts we sampled. The tour of the monastery was very cool. We learned more about nun life than ever before. We even had time to participate in a community festival including a farmer’s market. What a surprise! It was a full day of non-stop surprises and adventure. Perfect weather, excellent guide, Joao, (who we can’t speak highly enough about) and all of the activities left us ready to come back and do it again. 5-stars and 2-thumbs way up!

Die Fahrt war sehr angenehm und Joao war super! Arouca, die Brücken und der Paivawalk sind wunderschön und definitiv eine Reise wert! Danach haben wir gemeinsam gegessen (hat auch vegetarische Option!) und anschliessend viele kleine Desserts in einem Kaffe gegessen. Danach waren wir noch im Kloster. Es hat sich definitiv alles gelohnt und wir waren eine Gruppe von acht Menschen.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to 516 Arouca and the Paiva Walkways and would highly recommend it if your looking for an active adventure. Our guide João was very accommodating to all of our group and did a great job summarizing Portuguese history and culture. The hiking was awesome, the lunch and desserts very tasty and the convent visit was interesting. The only area for improvement would be the transportation – wish it had been a little more roomier and with better air flow in the back.

Loved everything about the day!
From the time of pick up in Porto, until our return to Porto, the trip was informative, fun and well-guided. Ricardo shared so much information as he is from this area. He was supportive to those who were a little nervous about the bridge (I was one of those, but loved every step) and also about what to expect on the Paiva Walkways. Lunch was delicious…and the coffee and sweets that followed were a nice treat. Lovely tour of Arouca and the monestary. Ricardo gets my vote for an all-round excellent guide making the day one to remember.

The trip absolutely worth the money. Guide was incredibly willing, also added some tips where to have a good meal at Porto, which books to read and which music is popular in these days there.

Great Day. Ricardo was a wonderful guide with all of his local knowledge. Even though I was nervous about the suspension bridge, I was a wonderful experience. Couldn’t wipe the smile from my face! The Paiva walkways are so picturesque…and not crowded. Lunch was delicious, with a surprise dessert and coffee after! It was also nice to have a short walking tour of Arouca. This tour was definitely time well spent!

Ricardo, our guide was excellent. Full of information and very accommodating. Travel was good, and lunch was a delight. Felt like the whole trip was good value for money – would definitely recommend.
