In this tour, the walk difficulty level is Medium/Difficult! You`ll walk 7km, but downstream!

We leave from Porto at 8AM towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and for coffee.

Get ready for adventure! After a short drive, we will arrive at the Walkways and go across one of the Longest Suspension Bridges of the World – The 516 Arouca! It spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva river!

NOTICE: crossing the bridge is NOT mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you will walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 7km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of the river.

Bring a swimsuit! At the halfway point of the trail, you find the Vau beach! You will have some free time to dive and swim or just put your feet on the clean waters of the Paiva river.

Please notice: make sure you bring a second set of clothes as you cannot get in the van with wet clothes!

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! A delicious meal is deserved and it will take place at a beautiful typical restaurant! Meat, fish or vegetarian options available.

After lunch we’ll discover Arouca for a glance about local culture and history including convent sweets tasting related to Arouca Monastery.

Return to Porto.

Worth it!!
This tour is well worth the value. Our guide was amazing, on time and passionate about his country. We stopped at a local Cafe, church and sweet shop filled with history. The bridge was worth seeing and crossing including the lunch and walk. Also, taking time away from the city is a great break, staying in Porto longer than 3 days would be too much and this broke up the time.

A Must Do Day Trip in Porto!
Amazing day. Started with the adrenaline-rush walk over the Arouca bridge (twice!), followed by the great hike on Paiva walkways with the gorgeous scenery all around us. The lunch that we were “rewarded with” for our efforts was so delicious and so was the desert that followed. We ended our trip with the visit to the local monastery and got some great insights of the history of the place. Thanks to our great guide Norberto we had a magical day (and also didn’t have to climb all the way up to the bridge!). If you are in Porto this activity is a must!

A great trip organiser!
What an amazing experience. Norberto was a superstar. In always contact, sending e-mails with information about our day and pick up time. He turned up on time. He knows so much about the history of Portugal. So friendly and helpful. Suspension bridge was great and not as scary. Paiva walkway was beautiful. Lunch, roast veal, one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Followed by traditional dessert and a visit to the convent. If I’ll come back to Porto I’ll definitely will book another trip with Ennetours

What a unique adventure! So glad we did not have to climb all the way up to the bridge, it was exhilarating to cross it! The walkways were magical, and the lunch in Arouce was delicious!
