In this tour, the walk difficulty level is easy/medium! You`ll walk only 5km and downstream!

Short description: You`ll go across one of the longest suspension bridges of the world and walk one of the most beautiful trails: The Paiva Walkways! Visit one of the highlights of Portugal: Costa Nova, and Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice!

We leave from Porto towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and coffee.

After a short drive, we`ll arrive at the Walkways and go across the Suspension Bridge! It spans 516 meters-long across the valley and hangs 175m above the Paiva river!

Notice: crossing the bridge is not mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you`ll walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 5km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging along the left bank of the river. Trail Areinho-Vau.

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! (fish and vegetarian options also available)

After a power nap in the van, we`ll arrive to Costa Nova! Costa Nova is one of the highlights of Portugal – a beautiful fishing village known for its striped colorful houses!

Time to enjoy Aveiro, also known as the “Portuguese Venice”! Discover the city center on a short walk, enjoy some free time and relax on a boat trip to see the charming city through the canals!

Finish the day back in Porto.

Amazing tour and experience!
Bridge experience was awesome, views over bridge and walkways amazing. Tour guide
John was excellent and very knowledgeable. Had to translate into two languages and did
so with ease.

It was a great tour, the Arouca bridge is spectacular. Unfortunately for the sportive people we are, the Paiva walkway was only down, we would loved to have climbed it. The lunch and visits to Aveiro and Costa Nova were nice. One small point of recommendation: on several occasions we had a small break for ourselves, however only 15 minutes in this case is a little to short.

Great day trip if you want to do something different from Porto.
This was a really good well run trip with an excellent guide. The trip was in a small group (8 people maximum in a good quality minibus) which worked really well for us. All the arrangements (where to meet up etc) were faultless. The bridge and walk are a great experience – the bridge does not feel scary and the views are brilliant. The walkways can be done pretty much at your own pace and you don’t need to stay in your group of 8 to do it. You get the option of doing the entire length or just part of it – we did all of it which we would recommend, unless you are really struggling with the heat or something. The entire walkway route is downhill. Lunch was really good – in fact probably the best meal we had in a two week trip away. After the bridge, the afternoon is a bit tamer but the boat trip is quite a nice thing to do and it does make it a good whole day out. We would completely recommend it to anyone who wants to do something memorable while in Porto.

This experience is truly amazing. My family and I didn’t know what it would entail but are so grateful we booked it! Our tour guide, Ricardo, was the best! He was super accommodating, knew a lot about the areas we were going, and very attentive. The views are nothing like we’ve ever seen before and felt a part of the community after going through this experience.

The guide was nice. Lunch was pretty good. It was a nice day out from Porto with just enough time in each place. Small group of 8 people which was cool. The van we traveled in was pretty cramped tho.

Insgesamt gut.
