In this tour, the walk difficulty level is Medium/Difficult! You`ll walk 7km, but downstream!

We leave from Porto at 8AM towards Arouca town where we will stop shortly for bathrooms and for coffee.

Get ready for adventure! After a short drive, we will arrive at the Walkways and go across one of the Longest Suspension Bridges of the World – The 516 Arouca! It spans 516m-long (1,692ft) across the valley and hangs 175m (576ft) above the Paiva river!

NOTICE: crossing the bridge is NOT mandatory. You have the option to skip it.

Then, you will walk the Paiva Walkways downhill in a total length of 7km over a wooden boardwalk zig-zagging downhill along the left bank of the river.

Bring a swimsuit! At the halfway point of the trail, you find the Vau beach! You will have some free time to dive and swim or just put your feet on the clean waters of the Paiva river.

Please notice: make sure you bring a second set of clothes as you cannot get in the van with wet clothes!

The walk will be followed by another highlight of our day: lunch! A delicious meal is deserved and it will take place at a beautiful typical restaurant! Meat, fish or vegetarian options available.

After lunch we’ll discover Arouca for a glance about local culture and history including convent sweets tasting related to Arouca Monastery.

Return to Porto.

Crazy Beautiful Tour with Great Guide!!!
Great tour! The guide set us up for success as we crossed the crazy beautiful suspension bridge and walked along the walkways. Phillip was a great guide! After we worked up an appetite, Phillip took us to this adorable spot for lunch where all of our dietary restrictions were well accommodated and the wine flowed. The views were beautiful and Phillip made it easy! Highly recommend

Walk this Way – Great tour with Ricardo!
Ricardo was a great tour guide and host. He is extremely knowledgable about the area (he lived there many years). He is also very solicitous in the requests and interests of his guests in his efforts to create a great experience for all. He took us to a great restaurant for lunch where we had a delicious group meal in an awesome setting. The walkways were much longer than I had expected but were easy going down and extremely enjoyable with such amazing environment and scenery. Was glad to have Ricardo there at the other end though so as not too have too walk all the way back (and uphill!). I highly recommend this tour with Ricardo.

AWESOME!!
One of our favourite days in Porto! The tour is well planned with plenty of time allocated for each section of the day, lunch was the best we had during our whole trip. Our guide Norberto was fabulous, friendly, informative and genuine. From the moment we booked, he was quick to reply and keep us informed of the schedule and what to expect throughout the day. Book this tour, you won’t regret it!

Fantastisk tur og ligeså fantastisk natur på den lange 8 km sti. Guiden Norberto skulle have 6 stjerner hvis det var muligt. Super dygtig, rar og god til at sørge for alle var med og følte sig velkomne.

Norberto was a great tour guide and the bridge was even more impressive up close.

It was absolutely amazing. Ricardo was really a genuinely lovely guy. He did everything he could to ensure we were all happy and comfortable. The bridge was incredible. The hike was beautiful and peaceful. Our lunch was delicious and at a stunning, intimate restaurant. Awesome value for money.

De beste manier om je hoogtevrees te overwinnen! Zeer mooi landschap over de hele lengte van de Paiva Walkways…die we gelukkig in dalende lijn hebben afgelegd.

Food 10/10, no MSG, fresh, authentic veal meat. The explanations were good and the walk was great, easy walk but depends on the weather.

Glorious outdoor excursion!
Pick-up to drop-off was seamless. Clear communication, interesting history sprinkled throughout, good fellow travelers, amazing scenery, tasty meal—reminded me of my mother’s pot roast. Personable and attentive guide kept us apprised every step of the way. Bridge was so fun to cross over, even if a little scary. Best part was the hike down on the walkway which started at height of the bridge and took us down beside the river on a safe and sturdy wooden path. What a glorious day. Best choice we made to make it the meat in our Porto sandwich! Go if you can.
